Published on the occasion of the exhibition Finché non saremo libere promoted by the Municipality of Brescia and the Fondazione Brescia Musei, in collaboration with Associazione Genesi, the catalog, edited by Ilaria Bernardi, explores the highly topical issue of the condition of women, with particular focus on Iran. It provides a socio-political history of the last 100 years, a contextualization of the art of Iranian women artists in the global context, as well as two in-depth texts on the historical Iranian artists Sonia Balassanian and Farideh Lashai, among the most renowned internationally.

Through a nucleus of works by contemporary women artists of diverse nationalities, the exhibition outlines a world view that is useful for critical reflection on urgent and complex issues of great social, cultural, and political impact. It thus provides the international context thanks to which and within which it is possible to read the works exhibited by Iranian artists such as Sonia Balassanian and Farideh Lashai for the first time exhibited in Italy, as well as the performances of the young Zoya Shokoohi created for the occasion.
